UpGarden is a sustainable and regenerative urban oasis fostering community and food security in the Uptown neighborhood of Seattle
Innovative Agriculture
We repurpose urban infrastructure into green space, demonstrating how high-density neighborhoods can support local food systems
Community Building
We create a third space where neighbors from diverse backgrounds can collaborate, share gardening knowledge and form lasting social bonds
Giving Back
We maintain a Giving Garden that produces hundreds of pounds of organic produce annually for local food banks
Ecological Stewardship
We promote biodiversity through pollinator plantings, beehives and organic gardening practices that mitigate the “urban heat island” effect
Visit Us Up at the Garden
We are just one of 90 cooperative neighborhood spaces in Seattle. Our members apply to access personal plots and maintain common areas together. We foster commercial and social connection, urban stewardship, and neighborhood pride. UpGarden P-Patch serves as public green spaces for relaxation, education, and community gathering – also donating organic produce to local food banks.
See 👀 what we’ve been up to!
Can you believe it’s been 14 years since we first transformed a rooftop parking garage into a thriving, green oasis in the heart of the city? Every seed planted, every tomato harvested, and every friendship forged has been made possible by this amazing community.
